Capoeira Demo after Friday's Show
Date: 21/01/087
We are delighted to announce that the excellent Group Senzala will give a capoeira demonstration after this Friday's performance of The Canterbury Tales.
For those who haven't yet encountered this Brazilian art form, it emerged from the
communities of West-African slaves in Brazil as a mixture of cultural expression,
dance and martial-art.
Led by Professor Julio Sanhaço, Group Senzala perform throughout the UK and Europe
and we are delighted to welcome them to the ACT theatre this Friday.

Shakespearean insults at the Surbiton Festival
Date: 30/9/07

We were out at last Saturday's Surbiton Festival, trying to flog some tickets to
the next show from our market stall. Festival-goers were treated to the dubious
honour of having actors yelling Shakespearean abuse at them as they walked by.
As an attention-seeking tactic, it worked well. We completely ran out
of the Shakespearean insult kits we were giving away and it generated a lot of interest
in the company. Many thanks to all of you who stopped by.
If you fancy trying a more creative approach to swearing, download the kit here
