West End’s hottest new performance space is transformed into a medieval tavern for our new adaptation of The Canterbury Tales

This latest twist on the experiential theatre movement puts the audience at the heart of the action as the space has been turned into a fully functioning medieval tavern complete with live music and a bar, serving real ale and spiced wine throughout the show.

The tales unfold in a mixture of song, dance and general mischief, as a group of travelers, rogues and wenches tell Geoffrey Chaucer’s tales, which have delighted, disgusted and entertained for centuries. From the antics of adulterous lovers, to the revenge of cuckolded husbands and the villainy of crafty knaves, the characters remain as entertaining and recognizable today as they were in the 14th century.

So dig out your tunic and britches, grab a tankard of ale or a glass of mulled wine, and be prepared to laugh at the triumphs and misfortunes of the charismatic characters of a bygone age.

An excellent show - shame about the heckler - great set, incredible energy - a very unique experience - thanks. Can't wait for the next one! Loved Scaramouche Jones last time too.

What a delight, never read or heard any Chaucer before (to my shame) and now an ardent fan. Thanks for the rendition, I loved you all.

I saw this production at Kingston College last year and really enjoyed it; I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn even better this time around at the Waggon and Horses. Really enjoyable and fun performance. Thanks Tacit for a great evening.

A Truly Great Evening

A really well executed performance by an original and amusing theater group. Loved the set (lack of seating a slight problem for older audience), the script was beautifully delivered and the costumes unique. A very funny rendition. Excellent. Cannot wait for the next production...the venue was perfect and the food provided by the Waggon and Horses was top class!

An Thoroughly Entertaining Evening

When I first arrived I was a little apprehensive but I was soon welcomed with a pint of ale. The show was funny, entertaining and very well put together. I have recommended it to my friends already and I would definately suggest anyone thinking about going takes a chance and heads down. It's a little dificult to find however maybe a bigger sign at street level.

A Laugh-riot Piece of Quality Theatre

This is genius. Saw it last night, not really expecting anything decent, mainly because I hate the Canterbury Tales (don't ask me why I even considered going... but I'm glad I did). The venue's difficult to find, but it's well worth the adventure.

Tacit Theatre managed to make this ancient work utterly accessible, easy to understand and very very funny. It was such a joy to watch, my face genuinely hurt with laughter.

The stories, the characters and especially the music instantly made you at ease, and you felt comfortable wandering to the bar during the performance, joining in with the songs and swinging a mug of beer to every jolly ditty (if that doesn't sound too idiotic...).

Kenetic, rude, bonkers and brillaintly acted by a plethora of sexy wenches and handsome chaps - this is truly great work.

Go See This!

Saw the show last night - I promise you, you'll love it! Inventive, witty, accessible, raucous, hilarious, imaginative, thrilling - it's all that and more besides. The cast are a very talented bunch of actors/singers and the live music and dancing are a real treat. Thank you all for a really great night out at the theatre - it's the best show we've seen in ages!
